Blog #17: Black Women Shining A Light On Each Other

Updated: Aug 16, 2022

Glenda Augustine, our Co-Founder of 2 Black Moms and A Mic, interviewed on A Conscious Moment Podcast by Linda Burke

There’s nothing better than black women shining a light on each other. We love it! And recently Linda Burke shined a light on our own 2 Black Moms & A Mic Co-Founder, Glenda Augustine, on A Conscious Moment Podcast by Linda Burke.

Check out the interview here:

Linda is an expert in “conscious parenting.” The Conscious Parenting movement involves parents being intentional about their parenting decisions, and for increased parental patience, understanding and awareness. Linda became engaged in the conscious parenting movement after a successful corporate career and when she increasingly found herself needing the support of other black mothers facing the challenge of raising black children “in a society that was unfriendly at best and dangerous at worst.” She started "Sistermoms" in 1999, which is an “active internet community of mothers of African American children living primarily in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.” She became certified in the Conscious Parenting Method in 2020 and is now a Conscious Parenting Coach where she facilitates workshops and advises parents. She recently talked to Glenda about Glenda’s early interests in science and the difficulties she experienced in her academic and professional pursuits in the field of engineering in the 1970s and 1980s, the challenges of becoming a technology entrepreneur, and how all this led to her helping Black children pursue science and parents in supporting their children's academic and social development as an Educational Consultant and Co-Founder of 2 Black Moms & A Mic!

This is an awesome interview that you won’t want to miss!
